Your rental car for Basel and northwestern Switzerland
A car for everyday life, a short assignment or several months: choose your dates and the category that suits you. Daily and weekly rentals remain available. Our monthly rental is based on 30 days, not a calendar month.

Provide your start and end dates, location and preferred category: XS, M, XL or Bus. If you have not decided on a category, describe the number of people, luggage or transport needs.

We discuss the vehicle, availability, rental terms and total price with you personally. An enquiry is not yet a confirmed booking.
3. Arrange the handover
We agree on the location and time for handover and return in advance. Delivery and later collection, if requested, are quoted separately.

How much is a month, and is mileage unlimited?
From CHF 399 for 30 days – unlimited mileage, with no mileage limit. We confirm the vehicle and availability personally. All rental cars have TCS roadside assistance.
Can the rental car be delivered to me?
Yes, throughout the listed area for an additional charge, including Frick. Tell us the delivery address. We agree on the delivery date and specific additional charge in advance.
What are the insurance, excess and deposit arrangements?
We confirm these terms and the total price in your individual offer before booking. Please check the insurance cover, excess and deposit for your specific vehicle.
How do I arrange handover and return?
We personally agree on the location and time for handover and return. Include your start and end dates and any delivery request in your enquiry. The operator's address in Allschwil does not indicate additional rental stations in the listed locations.
Is my car reserved once I send an enquiry?
The enquiry is non-binding. A reservation is only made after our personal confirmation and agreement on the rental terms.
The excess is CHF 1’000. An excess waiver is available. We confirm the price, requirements and scope of this option in your individual offer; this information does not imply blanket cover for every type of damage.
Do I need a deposit?
No deposit is required for renters resident in Switzerland. For residents abroad, the deposit is CHF 500 or CHF 1’000, depending on the vehicle and individual offer.
How much fuel should be in the car when I return it?
Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when you collected it. Check and document the fuel level at handover.
When do I pay for the rental?
The rental price is payable in advance, before vehicle handover. For an ongoing monthly rental, the next payment is due before the next rental month begins. A credit card is not required. The payment method is agreed in the offer.
What is included in the rental?
Included are unlimited mileage, vehicle insurance according to the agreed cover, road taxes, regular maintenance and repairs due to wear, plus TCS roadside assistance according to the vehicle's cover. A replacement vehicle in the event of a breakdown may be available, subject to availability. The renter pays for fuel and operating fluids needed during use; delivery and collection are charged separately.
Who may drive, and are trips abroad allowed?
You can rent from age 18 with a valid driving licence of the appropriate category recognised in Switzerland and an identity card or passport. Drivers must be named in the rental agreement or authorised in writing. The agreed driving area is Switzerland. Trips abroad require prior written permission; insurance cover, roadside assistance and required documents must be clarified before crossing the border.
What applies to extensions and late returns?
The return location and date are set out in the rental agreement. Extensions must be agreed before the rental ends. An early return does not automatically reduce the agreed payment obligation. There is no surcharge for a delay of up to 15 minutes; from the 16th minute, the regulations provide for CHF 50 per late-return incident. Additional rental days are charged at the previously agreed daily rate. Report an expected delay immediately by phone; notification alone does not authorise an extension.
What applies to return and cleaning?
Return the vehicle with all keys, documents and accessories. Its condition, damage, mileage and fuel level are recorded at handover and return. Missing fuel is charged at actual cost. The regulations provide for CHF 50 for necessary interior cleaning, or documented costs for excessive dirt. The same cleaning work is not charged twice.
What costs can arise after an accident?
Insurance cover and exclusions are set out in the rental agreement; there is no blanket promise of comprehensive insurance. The excess is CHF 1’000 per covered damage event for which you are liable; if the attributable damage is lower, you pay no more than that lower amount. For an accident for which you are responsible, the regulations also provide for CHF 1’000 in administrative compensation. Lower costs or the absence of costs may be demonstrated; mandatory rights to a reduction remain unaffected, and work already compensated is not charged again. An excess waiver does not automatically remove other charges. The price and scope of this option must be included in the offer. Uninsured damage or justified recourse claims may exceed these amounts.
What should I do in the event of a breakdown or damage?
Inform Mietkarren.ch immediately on 061 589 68 64. Coordinate towing and repairs with us or the relevant assistance service. If a red warning indicator appears or a safety-related fault occurs, stop safely and do not continue driving if this could cause further damage or danger. Normal wear and previously documented damage are not charged.
What information helps with choosing a vehicle?
Tell us your start and end dates, number of people, luggage or goods to transport, and whether you would like an automatic. You can enquire about small cars, estate cars and vans; a specific model or transmission is only guaranteed after personal confirmation. For delivery, we also need the exact address and your preferred time.
What should I check in the offer before booking?
The starting price is CHF 399 for 30 days, with unlimited mileage. Have the total price, insurance, excess, deposit and payment method confirmed for the vehicle offered. If delivery is requested, include the separately agreed charge. TCS roadside assistance does not replace this insurance information.
What is useful to do at vehicle handover?
Together with the person handing over the vehicle, check existing damage, the fuel or charge level and the agreed return arrangements. Record the condition in photos and a handover report. Also ask which documents and contact details to use in the event of a breakdown. These are preparation tips; the binding rules are in your rental agreement.
What should I clarify about return, extensions or trips abroad?
Agree on the return location and time, as well as the required fuel or charge level, before the rental starts. Contact us before any requested extension or change; it is not automatically approved. Before crossing a border, ask about permitted countries and insurance cover. Also clarify additional drivers and cancellation before booking.
